STACEY GIERMANN
Traditional Scottish Gaelic Songs sung from the Pacific Northwest
Stacey Giermann is a Pacific Northwest singer of Scottish Gaelic songs with family roots in the Highlands of Scotland. She has enjoyed singing all her life, but discovered her love for Gaelic language and song as an adult. She has studied with many acclaimed tradition bearers and performers in the Scottish music scene including Allan MacDonald and Cathy Ann MacPhee. Stacey is sought after as a session singer and concert performer of both traditional and contemporary Gaelic songs. In addition to singing, she teaches Gaelic song and language workshops and served on the board for both Slighe nan Gaidheal (Pacific Northwest Scottish Gaelic language and cultural society) and Fèis Seattle.
In July 2019, Stacey Giermann released her debut solo CD titled Meòrachadh/Reflection. Produced and engineered by master musician David Brewer, this album features 11 tracks of traditional Gaelic songs from the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, and is a collaboration with Scottish music band, The Fire.
From sorrowful laments to powerful waulking songs and toe- tapping puirt-a-beuls, Stacey’s pure voice soars over The Fire’s rich accompaniment. The Fire includes International Scottish Fiddle Champion Rebecca Lomnicky, dynamic bagpiper and multi-instrumentalist David Brewer, and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate Adam Hendey on guitar, bouzouki, and harmonium.
